“SO DO I”, “NEITHER DO I” - PART II

 

Enunciado	So / neither + verbo auxiliar (debe concordar con el sujeto) + sujeto
I love chocolate (Me encanta el chocolate).	So do I (A mí también).
I don’t like that colour (No me gusta ese color).	Neither do I (Ni a mí).
He likes this restaurant (Le gusta este restaurante).	So do I (Igual que a mí).
She doesn’t want to go to the cinema (Ella no quiere ir al cine).	Neither does he (Él tampoco).
I have seen this film before (Ya he visto esta película).	So have I (Yo también).
I haven’t ever been to London (Nunca he estado en Londres).	Neither have I (Ni yo).
I am listening to music (Estoy escuchando música).	So is she (Ella también).
He isn’t very well (No se encuentra muy bien).	Neither am I (Yo tampoco).
They went to the beach yesterday (Ayer fueron a la playa).	So did we (Nosotros también).
She didn’t do her homework last week (La semana pasada no hizo los deberes).	Neither did we (Nosotros tampoco).
They hadn’t eaten sushi before (Nunca habían comido sushi).	Neither had I (Yo tampoco).
We had always liked the beach (La playa nos gustaba desde siempre).	So had we (Y a nosotros).
They were late for the meeting (Llegaron tarde a la reunión).	So were we (Igual que nosotros).
She wasn’t happy to see him (No estaba contenta de verle).	Neither were they (Ellos tampoco).
They will come round after dinner (Se pasarán después de la cena).	So will we (Nosotros también).
He won’t be happy (No estará contento).	Neither will I (Ni yo tampoco).

Excepciones y variantes

“Nor” significa lo mismo que “neither” y se utiliza exactamente igual:

Dave no ha visto esta película, y yo tampoco.

Dave hasn’t seen this film before, and nor have I.

Dave hasn’t seen this film before, and neither have I.

Como alternativa para mostrarte de acuerdo con oraciones afirmativas y negativas, podemos usar estas expresiones:

―Esto me gusta.―A mí también.

‘I like this.’‘So do I.’

‘Me too.’

‘I do too.’

‘I agree’ (Estoy de acuerdo).

―Esto no me gusta.―A mí tampoco.

‘I don’t like this.’‘Neither / nor do I.’

‘Me neither’ (coloquial y oral).

‘I don’t either.’

‘I agree’ (Estoy de acuerdo).

Si queremos discrepar de algo que se ha dicho, simplemente utilizamos la forma opuesta (afirmativa o negativa) del verbo auxiliar.

―Esto me gusta.―A mí no.

‘I like this.’ ‘I don’t.’

―Esto no me gusta.―A mí sí.

 ‘I don’t like this.’‘I do.’

―No lo he visto antes.―Yo sí.

‘I’ve never met him.’‘I have.’

―Yo ya he estado aquí.―Yo no.

‘I’ve been here before.’‘I haven’t.’

También podemos usar del mismo modo los pronombres posesivos:

―¡Mi dormitorio es un auténtico caos!―El mío también.

‘My bedroom is a real mess!’‘So is mine.’

―Su hermano va al colegio que hay en mi calle.―El de ella también.

‘His brother goes to the school on my street.’ ‘So does hers.’

Mi ciudad no es muy interesante, pero la tuya tampoco lo es.

My town isn’t very interesting, but neither is yours.
